Obituary of Solomon "Sonny" Kilgroe

Mr. Solomon "Sonny" Eugene Kilgroe, 72, of Pell City passed away on October 3, 2015 in Birmingham. Mr. Kilgroe was retired from the Funeral Industry after serving St. Clair County for over 30 years, and was Past President of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association. He was a former Pell City Council member, a former member of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of Lakeside Hospice. He was a lifelong member of the Pell CIty Country Club and a former member of Indian Bayou Country Club in Destin, Florida. Mr. Kilgroe attended First Baptist Church of Pell City where his grandfather, Solomon D. Kilgroe, was a founding member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. and Josephine B. Kilgroe. He is survived by his wife, Jane R. Kilgroe, and by his nephews, Scooter Spradley, Buddy Spradley, and William L. Phillips, III Funeral Services will be11:00 am on Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with Bro. Doug Ford, Rev. A.L. Courtney, and Dr. John Thweatt officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Reed Alexander, Rex Alexander, Charlie Robinson, Terry Wilson, Harry Charles McCoy, and Ross Whitten.
